Our story began in 1988 when Keith Hinton Sr., a graduate of Miami University and member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc, became a police officer in East Orange, NJ. During his time as a cop, he regularly freelanced as a security officer for local businesses and two First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo) branches. Delivering quality customer service and professionalism, he became a reliable go to for businesses in need of security services. Twenty years later, having retired from the police department and wanting to ensure service quality for local clientele requesting larger contracts, Mr. Hinton, along with his managing partners founded Hinton Investigations Inc. in 2008.

Since then, growing to be the largest black owned security provider, H.I. has grown to employ over 100 employees, providing services to a wide variety of clientele and adding additional services to further support the security industry. We offer licensing and state registration support for those seeking their SORA as well as tactical training, CCW certification, notary services, and active shooter training for both the public, and all employees.
